Milan hosted last 3 and 4 February the first Festival del Management in Italy, organized by SIMA - the Italian Management Society, which represents the Scientific Society of Management professors.
It was a first edition full of surprises, beautiful surprises.
More than positive numbers in terms of participation, brand awareness, but also for the excellent feedback received.
Let's proceed in order.
First of all, the most important result was SIMA's first public outing: with this number zero of the Festival, we have opened ourselves up to a wider audience to finally start a transversal discussion on culture, knowledge and values that can foster development of the country.
The first to believe in us and in the success of the project were the many partners and sponsors who, in various capacities, put themselves on the line to invest resources and time on a first edition, yet to be verified.
This was also the case for the more than 150 speakers who lent themselves to talk about each other, to comment, to help inspire communities to feed civil, social and economic progress, happiness and widespread well-being. And they did it with enthusiasm, all strictly free of charge, all betting on an unpublished edition and therefore with uncertain results.
We held a total of 56 meetings, discussing 56 different topics: plenary sessions, keynote speeches and round tables melted with interactive talks, interviews and dialogues but also workshops and laboratories, masterclasses and hackathons for high school and university students to stimulate the active participation of all the public.
We immediately placed the accent on issues of absolute importance for the economic and civil development of Italy, such as the fight against the mafias, the energy transition and the organization of services for the protection of public health, a field in which it has been shown that only with the right organizational skills was it possible to face the pandemic and vaccination in record time.
In addition to these 3 macro-themes, we have embraced a multitude of industries, markets and current topics, with an understandable, inclusive, light language to reach everyone.
The audience was large in number and type: no less than 2,500 people attended in person, with a peak in the afternoon of the first day, enlivened by the 8 parallel sessions. A presence composed of managers, entrepreneurs, but also officials, soldiers, teachers and many students of all ages who perhaps we have inspired in the choice of their next studies.
Another objective of ours was to make people perceive that the culture of management is not apical, but that doing management means carefully managing activities, businesses, but also people. And also to make it clear that without this type of skills, very little progress can be made. The interaction that took place, especially in the parallel sessions and in the open dot, showed how much the public was involved.
Remaining on the theme of attendance, around 2,000 participants followed the meetings in streaming.
If the data has been decidedly encouraging in terms of participation, it is also thanks to the visibility we have managed to obtain in the media.
First of all we must mention the visibility we had in important RAI and RAI RADIO 1 programs thanks to the media partnership with the state TV, as well as on RADIO KISS KISS with various ex-ante launches and then with the live coverage of the Festival.
There was no shortage of visibility windows on the main newspapers, where we exceeded 60 articles.
Social media has also allowed our brand to become familiar with the public online: Facebook, Instagram, but above all Linkedin which has given us the boost to involve the business target at the event.
To conclude, we promised ourselves not to hold a specialist conference or an academic congress, but a Festival open to all, with the ambition of bringing out the importance of management and the contribution it can dare as a resource and fly around the country.
We believe that SIMA has won the bet to appear POP, to put the values of competence and personal ability at the center of the political, institutional, economic and social debate.
Because the science of management, if treated in a simple way, can truly reach everyone to direct collective behavior towards innovation, strategic change and improvement of the quality of life and well-being of populations.
Many people and companies have asked us if the Festival will be repeated.
Judging by the numbers, the consensus of the public and the numerous partners who have believed in this project, we think there are grounds for repeating it.
However it goes, it was a pleasure to work with you and for you!
