The thematic group aims to create a virtual place for in-depth analysis and debate on the topic of purpose-driven businesses, around which strong interest has grown in recent years. In the context of the broad process of rethinking the traditional capitalist system, researcher and policy makers underline the crucial role that companies can play adopting business models and strategic approaches oriented towards the creation of social value (purpose for profit or purpose with profit, etc.).
As an emerging and evolving topic, the theme of purpose-driven businesses requires further research and educational activities. Based on these premises, the thematic group focuses on these issues in order to investigate the operational conditions that make it possible to adopt a purpose-driven approach as well as the managerial and strategic dynamics that characterize these types of organizations.

ACTIVITIES
The thematic group organizes periodic meetings and workshops, both in person and online, in collaboration with companies. It promotes and develops research projects, involving universities and companies, to explore the topic and obtain results which will be presented in Sinergie-SIMA annual conferences or in special issues of national and international journals.

- Annual Conference Sinergie-SIMA (Track Purpose-driven Businesses).
- The thematic group has planned two paper development workshops within the Special Issue Sinergie- Sinergie - Italian Journal of Management: Imagining a better world: how are companies transforming capitalism? The two workshops will be held on November 21st at Lumsa University (Rome) and on December 12nd at John Cabot University (Rome).
- Members of the thematic group will present a special track at the R&D Management conference 2024 that will be held in Stockholm.
