The passage from 2024 to 2025 brings us to sum up all the current Board has achieved during its mandate and the road that rests ahead before we pass the baton over to a new team of SIMA leaders. The idea of creating value for our members has been our clear objective and a strong guide to our actions. We also worked following the principle that a lever for such value creation lays in our capacity to engage and empower SIMA members. In this view, SIMA is a united community and its Board strives to create a platform that supports a coherent set of actions that are diffused among our members, leveraging the capacities, ideas, passions of all the members who wish to offer their support and stimulus to other fellow colleagues. This principle underlies all our activities and its effects have been astonishing!
\nA large part of our research oriented activities are now carried out by our Thematic Groups<\/strong>often in partnershipoften in partnership with SIGs belonging to our main international partners with SIGs belonging to our main international partners British Academy of Management (BAM)<\/strong> in particular have been very active. The tracks of the Sinergie SIMA conference are managed nearly entirely by our Thematic Groups Sinergie-SIMA Conference<\/strong>and so are a relevant number of our annual awards. The Thematic Groups are not only much more empowered, they are also growing in number and are now thirteen, having added two new relevant fields of research to our portfolio. Also, our Thematic Groups are increasingly working together with Sinergie Italian Journal of Management,<\/strong> as a reputable and relevant partner through which to publish the best research conducted by their members. The SIMA-SIM Research Methods Schools<\/strong> have offered a growing number of courses on different critical themes connected to building competences that are crucial to a rewarding academic career in the field of management, both in presence and online. A number of courses have been co-organized with BAM, clearly contributing to create long term ties between scholars and faculty based principally in Italy and in the UK. The latest course in our portfolio, \u201cInside the academic editorial process\u201d, is co-organized with SIMA\u2019s Next Gen<\/strong>and is a true community event. It\u2019s aimed to teach young scholars the generous art of offering high quality reviews of academic papers and participants are called to offer their feedback on the papers submitted to our annual conference. The quality of the reviews delivered due to this course has been highly appreciated and is a great way to become an active part of our community!
\nSIMA\u2019s support to teaching and its evolution today is growing. Make IT a Case<\/strong> Make IT a Case is now supported by Invitalia and the Ministry for Firms and Made in Italy as a very effective mechanism to vehicle the values of Diversity and Inclusion to thousands of future company leaders in Italy. We are very proud to work with important institutional partners such as these to support values such as inclusion and equality in our student community, offering at the same time a very flexible support for our members to use in their management courses. On this front, we have also dedicated time to study the current state of the art of innovation in teaching methods as well as the future of editorial companies\u2019 support to teaching activities. The insights from these studies and conversations are the basis for a series of Symposiums SIMA is organizing with its main international partners to be held both online and in person at highly impactful international conferences.
\nAs a scholarly academy, SIMA has been very conscious of the critical role of the impact of management studies. On the 8th and 9th of May 2025 we will be hosting our third edition of our Festival of Management in Naples. Festival del Management<\/strong>The overarching fil rouge of our Festivals, from the two past editions generously hosted by the Bocconi University to this edition hosted by the University of Naples Federico II, is to communicate the value of managerial skills for the wellbeing of individuals and of the wider society to a vast non-academic audience. The outcomes of these events have been outstanding and we are working very hard with all the SIMA community to set up yet another success. Our media partnerships have extended beyond the existing Management Notes and Mark-up to include also the influential Corriere della Sera, and the number of articles published from the SIMA community is growing constantly.
\nFinally, our board strives to create the infrastructure for true community experiences. Our annual conference in Parma touched a new record, as the number of participants soared to 550. The number of activities carried out by SIMA members in partnership with peers belonging to our international partners (AOM, BAM, EURAM and IFSAM) are growing exponentially, increasing the number and variety of occasions in which to extend international networks. Our local referents are precious actors who work with the board, contributing ideas and projects that are of very high value for SIMA members. They are also a very firm support to our capacity to move \u201cas one\u201d in occasions in which we wish to support the election of our representatives in academic institutions such as in CUN, AIDEA and in important institutional work teams. Our next Gen team is very active in creating projects that are tailored made for very young scholars and for welcoming new members to our community. A new team, dedicated to colleagues that are engaged in Coordinating or are part of the faculty of Doctoral Programmes, has been working for months to map the current state of the art and is now ready to start the first activities aimed to support this particular cohort of our community. A number of our teams and individuals are dedicated to the delicate issues of research evaluation, career path progressions, journal rankings, the future trends of management studies and the institutions that regulate these critical aspects of our community. These teams and individuals all strongly adhere to the principles laying within our \u201cMestiere del Docente\u201d document and those of responsible research. We are thrilled to be among the very first Academies worldwide to have obtained a formal certification for gender equality, demonstrating that we \u201cwalk the talk\u201d!
\nThe enthusiasm and passion that all SIMA constituencies continue to express: our current Board of Directors and Advisory Board, the Delegates, the Local Representatives, the Conference and Track Organizers, the Leaders of the thematic groups and Adele, are the fundamental cornerstones of the many SIMA achievements of the year 2024 mentioned above. Our praise and most sincere gratitude goes to each one and all of them.
\nI am truly excited to unveil the new phase that is awaiting us all and hope you will take part in the many activities we are setting up for the SIMA community.
