Editor: Giuseppe Bertoli, Sandro Castaldo, Paola Cillo, Gabriele Troilo, Gianmario Verona
Description: This Special Issue will include impactful documents focusing on the critical role that knowledge and trust play in data-rich business environments. In today's business environments, various actors - companies, suppliers, consumers, public authorities, regulators and other stakeholders - can make decisions by leveraging the abundance of proprietary and public data made available by digital technologies. The centrality of data for managerial decision-making inspires new research questions on how the organization creates, uses and disseminates knowledge to generate a sustainable competitive advantage. Furthermore, the fluidity of data in large networks of companies, customers and other interconnected actors creates concerns that can be resolved by placing trust at the center of that network of relationships. The purpose of this special issue is to investigate how knowledge and trust can be developed, exploited, disseminated and protected in business ecosystems, where data is the main resource for different actors. This Special Issue welcomes both theoretical and empirical documents, exploiting various methodological approaches, strongly supported by the managerial literature.
